SACHA’S BON PLAN – LE BAZAR SAINT REMOIS

To look after the refurbishment of the house we recently bought in Provence, I go to Saint Remy de Provence on a regular basis... Lucky me! And of course, I take that opportunity to wander around the town searching for boutiques to spoil Apolline and Keira!

I then found that little shop, which is called a “bazar”, full of cute objects, toys, slippers, books for children.

I bought a whole set of china, plates, glasses, cups and saucers, spoons, in those fab colours and they are unbreakable as well!

Hopefully many more lovely addresses to come in that region.

SACHA'S INVESTIGATION: Choose a Shoe!

With the new temperature coming ahead, and the sun shining, our little Treasure's wardrobe has to change, so as their shoe set. Sacha has been investigating about the right shoe to choose.

We all get confused between fashion and comfort. Can we have it both?
- Birkenstock: No No No, the sole is too hard. But it remains a fashion icon!
- Aster: Oh Yes, Nice , Comfy, comes in every color. I love the "Dingo" in taupe.
- Clark's: Definitively the comfiest shoes for our babies when starting to walk.
- Start Rite: probably the best arbitrage between look and comfort, Apolline loves their patent white sandals, "Ambrosia", and as she says "they jump well" !
- Crocs: deliciously awful, but this is what my daughter likes the most.
- Kickers: not before size 32 (UK 13.5)! (the leather is not supple enough).

Whatever you choose, Sacha's chiropodist says that every shoe is an instrument of torture! But the torture is located in different places: so we just have to change shoes everyday so the torture will be spread all around the foot each day and leave the other areas to rest in the meantime.

Little trick/tip: please to all "shoe sales": PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

Let's assume I really am allergic to "Dora Fuchsia Crocs" and I prefer Aster white sandals.

I pick up both (to please my daughter) and I ask the sales to come up with a size 25 (UK 7.5) for both and I add, quite loudly (in a very weird kind of way): PLEASE BRING A SIZE 25 FOR BOTH and IF EVER YOU DONT HAVE ANY 25 left in CROCS, THEN WE WILL PICK UP THE ASTER ONES? YOU GOT ME???".

Well, it usually works unless the Sales does not know the trick!!

That said, Sacha reminds us: whatever you pick up, be aware of your child's feelings: he/she is the one who will be wearing it and the one who will explain better if the shoe is comfy or not. You just have to learn how to listen carefully.
